| Becky's Milestones |
| As Becky has grown, many people have asked me how she was doing and what skills she has accomplished. Here is our current list. I have given two ages for each skill. The first number is her age according to when she was born (actual age). The second number is the age she would have been if my pregnancy had gone to term (adjusted age). After Becky's second birthday, I stopped adjusting her age because it didn't make much difference, she was delayed in her development for both ages. * rolled over - 6 / 3 months * holds own bottle - 11 / 8 months * log rolls around room - 12 / 9 months * army (commando) crawls - 14 / 11 months * first day of school - 15 / 12 months * sits in "W" position - 17 / 14 months * sits in correct position - still working on (3-15-02), Becky prefers to sit in the W-position, but is able to sit correctly if she is reminded * sits unsupported in shopping cart - 20 / 17 months (she had to be propped up or held because she would fall over) * crawls on all fours - 17 / 14 months * pulls to stand - 18 / 15 months * sticks out her tongue - 21 / 18 months (she had to be taught this - her tongue movements were affected by her CP) * walks behind a push toy - 21 / 18 months * cruises along furniture - 23 / 20 months * drinks from a sippy cup without choking - 23 / 20 months * weighs over 20 pounds - 2 years old * pulls her sock off without any assistane - 2 1/2 years old * stands independently - 2 1/2 years old (2 - 5 seconds) we are still working on this (4-6-01) * walks with a walker - 2 1/2 years old (9-6-00) Becky's first public outing with her walker. We went to the grocery store. She enjoyed her new freedom and even tried to run away from me!!! * first independent steps - 2 3/4 years old (10-6-00)!!!!! * potty trained - 3 years old (March 2001) * WALKING INDEPENDENTLY!!!!! - 3 years 10 months old (11-6-01) * "running" - 4 years old - it isnt' really running like other kids, but it is a stiffer-faster version of her walking and she says she's running - who am I to correct her? *jumping without assistance - August 2004 - 6 years 7 months *balance on one foot - October 2004 - 6 years 9 months * surgery - bilateral rotational femoral osteotomies - November 8, 2004 (information found on Surgery Updates page) * external fixators and pins removed from both femurs - January 31, 2005 *crawled across the living room post-op - February 1, 2005 - 7 years |
