The Chicken Dance ON ROLLER SKATES! First it was the hokey-pokey, then in was the chicken dance. Jessi and Becky both LOVE rollerskating, and those are two of their favorite songs!
Year 2003 Jessi & Becky
Once again, the girls dressed up in their Dutch costumes for Tulip Time. If you look on the family photo page, you can see a picture of all three girls in our family dressed for Tulip Time.
The start of school meant KINDERGARTEN for Becky! She even gets to ride the bus. She has a special vest she wears that hooks to a harness on the bus to help her sit up for the ride to and from school. The kids on her bus LOVE her and are usually chanting, "Becky, Becky, Becky" when she gets on.
Jessi and her cousin on the tube.
Jessi and her friend Kate are ready for their piano duet at the school's talent show.
When we went to the fair, Becky decided she needed to do push-ups for the army. She parked her wheelchair and gave it her best effort. The soldier at the booth was so impressed with her that he let her have the cookie out of his lunch. When Becky tried it, she decided that army food wasn't for her!
Jessi got a wonderful surprise the week before school started - she was selected to be the Grand Marshall at Berlin Raceway. She was treated to a tour of the pits, got a t-shirt, and, best of all, she started the night off with the famous words, "Gentlemen, start your engines!" Jessi even asked Becky if she would like to help her.
A MAJOR event for both girls was when PFC Carl Hartman came home for a visit after serving in Iraq. Carl's parents are friends of our family, and Carl has become a very special person to our family. We ask for your prayers for him and his family as he will be leaving in March 2004 to spend a year fighting in the war again terror in Afghanistan.
May 2003 Jessi danced in her first ballet recital during Tulip Time.
Summer wouldn't be complete without at least one camping trip. In 2003, Becky graduated to a big bike with super-sized training wheels. By the end of our vacation, she was riding faster than Mom could run!!
Jessi turned 8 years old in May, and Becky celebrated her 5th birthday in January! The years continue to fly by...
2003 was the first year we had enough leaves to rake into a pile. Jessi and Becky spent a whole afternoon playing in the giant leaf pile.
